What on earth is one of those, and where can I get one?

Thought for the day

"Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you are a mile away from them, and you have their shoes."

Attrib: Unknown, variously attributed to Dave Barry, Frieda Norris & Jack Handy, among others.

About This Site

What is The Slobsquad?

The name The Slobsquad was given to my housemates and I back in Bristol by our good friend and honorary housemate Martin Poulter.

We like to think it was by way of a compliment for our relaxed, easy-going lifestyle and our many social get-togethers in the form of video nights (the legendary Bad Movie Night) and rooftop parties.

I have since moved on but I'm happy to report that the remaining members of the slobsquad are still going strong, even though they are now international jet-setting superstars.

So what's with this site then?

I put this site together as a place for family and friends to access my photos and the occasional file I thought might be funny or useful.

It also houses a bunch of links I've found useful in the past, but the information contained in those sites may be past its sell-by date now, I haven't checked them in quite a while.

Who put this thing together?

Me, that's who.

The whole site is hand-coded XHTML and CSS (apart from the photo galleries, which nowadays are produced by the excellent BetterHTMLExport plugin for iPhoto), aiming to be as standards compliant as I can make it, given that by trade I am not a web-designer.

So tell me about the clever stuff

(What clever stuff, you might ask?)

The site is mostly template driven, using a combination of XSSI and Perl to add the content and do funky stuff like dynamically generate the menu at the top of the left hand column and change the banner at the top of the page.

Cool huh?

No? Maybe it's just me then.
